Vemco Corporation was founded in 1939 by Dr. Francis
E. Vaughan and Mr. Floyd Eubanks. They started the business in a converted garage
that was located in Pasadena, California and had two full time employees. Mr.
Eubanks soon departed, leaving the company in the capable hands of Dr. Vaughan.
During these early years the volume of
business was not large enough for effective competition on the basis of quantity, so Vemco

Vemco's first product was a "band and
pulley" drafting machine. In answer to the needs of the industry,
