6 New Pipes from Peter Heeschen
Once you have met Peter Heeschen in person, it pretty much becomes impossible to totally disassociate the man from the art. If the man were an ill-mannered introvert, this would not be a good thing. But, with Peter Heeschen? If I had my way, I would have that ex-farmer turned pipemaker, of good humor and sunny disposition, in front of my Heeschen display case every day AND at any pipe show that I could make. As cool and charming as his pipes are, walking away from Peter with one his pipes in hand there comes a kind of “click” that generates a smile and greater understanding of what you have in your hand. That isn’t just a briar… it’s a Heeschen. Another half a dozen pipes from everybody’s favorite “Second Uncle” just went up. We have had an absence of Peter’s Natural sandblasted “S” grades as of late (you bought them all) and so we are putting two fine specimens up; a cobra and a straight apple. Also featured tonight is the longest, non-bamboo cherrywood that we have been privileged to offer, a most unusual bent dublin (for Peter), as well as an elegant egg and an additional cherrywood.
18 New Pipes from Claudio Cavicchi
What do you call a master carver who consistently turns pipes with a grain that dazzles, while maintaining a fabulous shaping aesthetic and some of the best pipe engineering out there... and does so for less than most would even believe is possible? We would call him "Claudio". Within a matter of hours from introduction, Cavicchi pipes disappeared at an unprecedented pace from the website. Looking at this new batch of eighteen briars, I am confident that the same popularity will remain intact. Tonight’s Cavicchi update runs the length from “C” rustications to “CCCCC” Grades that display supernaturally pretty grain. Shapes include not only the familiar “Claudio Classics”, but esoterics such as the Sea Slug and Blowfish as well. As you can tell, we are all rabid fans of the Cavicchi pipe. Try one out; you are quite likely to join us.
12 New Neerup Pipes
Peder Jeppesen, the man behind your Neerup pipe, has been carving pipes for over two and a half decades, and holds an exclusive contract for the coveted briar that grows in the low mountains on the east cost of Calabria. That's a "one-two" punch that all but guarantees a great smoking experience. For additional peace of mind, Neerup pipes, like every pipe that goes up for sale on our site, are personally inspected from button to draft hole. This update we take pleasure in posting another dozen Neerup pipes to the site, including six sandblasted Classic series, four smooth Selections as well as two sandblasted Selections. The Neerup pipes seem to grow wings and fly out of inventory, make sure that “yours” isn’t one of them!

It was just a few months ago that we introduced Savinelli into the lineup. Given that the one hundred and thirty (plus) year old company had no shortage of dealers in the United States, we certainly didn't expect the response we received. The additional two dozen Savinellis that just went up took us well past the six hundred “Savinellis offered” mark. Never have we had that fast of a ramp up in any given brand. Even if I had never smoked a Peterson pipe, and I own quite a few, why would I feel compelled to give one a try? Well, let's start with the highly defendable premise that pipe men are both intelligent and good judges of value (I am sure you are in agreement with me so far). I watch more than 150 Peterson pipes leave here every month. Someone is buying Petersons and, perhaps more to the point, most of our buyers already own at least one Peterson. If smart men (and women) are repeat buying, logic would pretty much dictate that Peterson has a well crafted and intelligently priced product. So the reason that I would not at least try a Peterson is… You are correct, there is no reason. In order to keep up with demand, your favorite tobacconist is serving up yet another three dozen, piping hot, fresh Peterson pipes for your shopping pleasure. Make sure you get that free tin of the Peterson tobacco of your choice per pipe!
48 New Estate Pipes
“Forty-eight is the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be forty-eight.” Once again, in accordance with demand, as well as staying within Sykes’ “Imperative of the Twelve”, your favorite tobacconist presents a blockbuster estate update of forty-eight pipes from around the world, and at prices that will find a home in most any budget... Opening this week’s update we have Canada and the US, a perfect pairing. The US culture is so prevalent up north that little separates us as a people, aside from nationalized health care, the “mayo v. ketchup on fries” debate and most Canadians inability to properly pronounce words that involve “ou” between consonants (“Aboot”, what the hell is that all about?). Many Yanks, on the other hand, will claim to be Canadian when abroad, as a prophylactic measure to avoid spit in our beverages. “Win-win!” From Canada, we have two pre 1980 Brigham Four-Dots (Executive series) as well as a gorgeous Michael Parks straight grain billiard. The US is here with a 66 grade Randy Wiley bent dublin, three fabulous pipes from Paul Bonaquisti, a pre-1946 Custom-bilt, a pristine Greg Peevey long shanked billiard and, finally, a gigantic Tim West freehand volcano/gourd. Fans of the Italian pipe: get set for one of the finest Italian estate presentations within recent memory. Sixteen pipes spread across nine of the most famous marques in Italian pipe making. We have Savinellis that run from a Deluxe Siena to a smooth Autograph. Cavicchi is here with two “CCC” grade beauties, as is Ser Jacopo with three briars to present (one of which has the incredible, yet elusive, Senecta tenon and mount). Three Ador Uranos “represent” (make sure you see the unsmoked Meteora Giant), backed up by Mastro de Paja, a “Fancy” Grade Posella, a Four Clover Viprati rhodesian, and the “finale dall'Italia” comes in the form of an Il Ceppo sandblasted lovat with dazzling grain.
Ireland is represented by Peterson (of course) with two pipes. England follows through with a dandy, older-production GBD Prehistoric. As usual, the Dunhill lineup dominates the English field like a healthy Tiger Woods at the local Kiwanis golf tournament. The “Lads of the White Spot” are here with Shell Briars, Cumberlands, and even a few Root Briars (don’t miss the wonderfully grained Root Briar panel, nor the uber-rare 52131). Denmark finishes up this week’s update presentation with six entries. Highlights include a Jorn Larsen straight apple, a Lasse Skovgaard bent dublin and a Stanwell Limited Edition Hans Christian Andersen that was created to celebrate the two hundredth birthday of the series namesake.
New Tobacco ~ Carolina Christmas 2008
Over the past months and through scads of group tastings, we tweaked many a blend until (EUREKA!) we hit upon a broken flake that was fine enough for us to present as our “first ever” Christmas tobacco: Carolina Christmas 2008. From the tin:
"From the snow covered cabins near Asheville to the festively decorated streets of Charleston, few regions celebrate Christmas with the friendly verve of the Carolinas. To share the spirit of this very special time and place, we created this exquisite limited edition broken flake. Rich red Virginias sit atop a base of a blend of white and dark Burleys, joined by Green River Black Cavendish for a touch of sweetness. The barest hint of Cyprian Latakia serves to accentuate the main components, pulling together the entire sophisticated composition."
