Our Venetian
carnival masks come directly from the most skilled and
experienced masks makers (mascareri) of Venice and are all handmade from
papier-mâché. The quality of
our papier-mâché masks, leather masks,
traditional
masks, feather
masks, blank
masks, half face and handheld masks are superb and each
Venetian mask is individually finished to the highest standard.
The colours and designs follow patterns that are derived from
Venetian carnival (carnevale) masks and classical costume
disguise, which can be traced as far back as the 13th
century.
The origins of many of the theatre masks
used by the performing characters can be traced back directly
to a 16th
century form of
improvisational
theatre known as the Commedia
d’arte. These masked characters include the Harlequin
(Arlecchino),
Puccinella, Nasone,
La

Each of our Venetian masks are individually
designed to be worn as a face mask for all types of fancy

originally events that were designed to allow the identity of
the person to be hidden so that they could interact with other
people while incognito, “Man is least himself when he
